This is the first opportunity ever, players will have the chance to unlock a number of innovative Rune Words in the Ladder system! To be clear that these Rune Words have never existed in the game prior to now, and they will not be accessible in non-Ladder play as was the case with the previous set Ladder-only Rune Words in the original Diablo II experience. At the end of the Ladder season players who can successfully make the Rune Words will have their Ladder characters transferred into the "non-Ladder" version of the game. Then at the beginning of new Ladder season, participants make a new Ladder character and begin all over again to gain new rewards.

Set Item adjustments will upgrade poor performing Set Items that give players more motivation to hunt for partial and Full set items, which will supplement the skill change mentioned above. Lastly New Rune words will be added as a complement to the Skill and Mercenary changes coming in the update.
