Diablo players are eagerly anticipating the start of  d2r items the first season of ladder ranks and it will be happening with the launch in patch 2.4. Players playing as ladder characters will gain access to Runewords that aren't available to players playing regular characters at the very least during the season. For the length of time each season will run, Blizzard states it is currently looking at four-month seasons however, that's not likely to be a definitive plan as of yet.

A recent conversation Diablo II: Resurrected design head Robert Gallerani said balance changes were not incorporated into the game when it first launched since the team wanted offer the players with an "authentic gaming experience."
